but what about the unsprung weight?
I do understand that it is all about the look, but do you all realise that bigger wheels are heavier, and increasing the unspring weight can only be a bad thing?
If you don’t know what I am talking about, and why stopping, starting, cornering and everything else that your wheels do will be adversely effected, feed UNSPRING WEIGHT in to Mr Google, and then read with an open mind.
The engineers that made your car didn’t necessarily pick the very best of what was available from the wheel world because they were constrained by cost considerations, but they did build the suspension to match the wheels that were fitted, and you now think that you know better than them?
There is much talk about the PCD and what could be fitted instead, but nobody ever seems to factor in the size of the hole in the middle – and this plays a major part in keeping you safe.
If you like, you can assume that this is a longwinded preamble to telling you that I have genuine 13” and 14” Alfa 33 wheels, and three ROH 6x14” aftermarket Alfa 33 wheels. The tyres are all so-so or rubbish. None of the wheels are in mint condition. They are all cheap though! I can provide photos…
Now you can go back to upsetting everything else just for the sake of fashion!
