86 Sprint

Low compression on one cylinder

Hi team recently had a compression test done and one cylinder is lower, like 80 when the rest are around 130 ? Valve maybe or a ring ? Gunk stuck under the valve seat ? Any advice appciated cheers

Hi,

It could be:
- worn valve seat / valve head (intake or exhaust valve or both)
- worn / damaged compression ring
- worn / damaged cylinder wall
- head gasket leak
- slightly bent connecting rod
- worn camshaft lobe at the intake side of the affected cylinder (inadequate valve lift)
- worn tappet shim or hydraulic lifter (depending on engine version)

or any combination of above...
