Yup - that'll be how its done. It explains to me why the outboard Sprint/33 hub nut torque is up around 180-odd lb/ft, its that what's keeping the bearings together. The 'Sud outer bolt is just to locate the driveshaft in the hub, hence the low 40 lb/ft torque.

What I'm trying to do is a hybrid configuration, using the 'Sud hubs but modified to accept the Giulia 105 series disc brake "top hat" over the top of the driven flange and clamped in place by the wheel studs. I need to get onto my friend Neville about that - he's got a machine shop and isn't afraid to use it

Lauren

How on earth can anyone steal 3000 meters of cable

.... I bet he didnt put it in his pockets

Congrats on been a grandfather .... again ! If I'm not mistaken you became a grandfather again a few months ago ? or is it this the same case ?

Any updates on the Sprint ? Have you taken it for the electrics to be sorted ?

Yes it is at the Alfa garage but I don't know yet what has happened to it.

Wrong tactics .
In spite of new family commitments ,please keep your finger on the sprint pulse.and get a detailed education of 164 electronics being put together with pics .so that us dwindling numbers of 164 owners can benefit from your experience.

Read the all too familiar stories on the 166/ 164 forum to get an idea of whats likely to go wrong engine managmentwise once the sprint is up and running.and why so many 164s go to the breakers yard.

Having been up and down to Yorkshire last week I finally got back to the 6C and the electrics are proving difficult - so we are waiting for an Autoelectrical expert to check out the system......
So I will not be going to MITCAR after all I'm sorry to say ..........but there is something at Gaydon in Sept which should be achievable.

That's a shame - but yes, Auto Italia have an end-of-season bash at the Motor Heritage centre. You can even book your car onto the Aston Martin test track for a few laps (behind a pace car). It was good fun last year.

I too am in a quandary over MITCAR. I need to take Green Machine off the road to sort the driveline angle work, and as an inevitable consequence I will need to get a new exhaust system fabricated, which could further delay recommissioning...

If I don't get stuck in now there will be no hope of having the car sorted for next years Alfa centenery celebrations...

Good luck sorting the sparks Philip - I still think triple 40DCNFs and direct ignition would be easier to implement, but I guess with the right specialists and diagnostic equipment it will all come together satisfactorily!

Even though its non-running, the 6C still looks great

Thanks Lauren
I am keeping the triple downdrafts as Plan C or is it D?? as I really like the curved chrome pipes!!
I am getting frustrated at the lack of sparks though

Phil I got frustrated 3 times while building my cars !

First time was when I was rebuilding my old 33 - the one that was torched
Second time was when I was rebuilding/modifying the engine and everything else on my current white 33
Third time was when I chopped all those pannels on my red Sprint to make it wide body and 4x4

The reason I got frustrated was because I thought : " Oh my God ! I took so many parts out, and its been so long ! I chopped so much of it off !!! Will it ever be whole and start again ? "

Frustration though goes away as soon as the car is back in one piece, even though it may not start or run
For some reason I feel more at ease when the car I'm working on sits on 4 wheels with an engine in the engine bay

The point to all this , is that I got this frustration while watching your car been chopped off as well.
Now that everything is "back in place" ( although there is no engine in your engine bay ) and you have a complete car, starting it up shouldnt worry you AT ALL !
Everything will happen in good time Plenty of other meets to go in the future

When talking about cars over here a "tranny" instantly means a gearbox...but when talking cars in Cyprus it obviously means something else and as you keep pushing the tranny thing I'm starting to think Cyprus may not be the holiday I thought it was...lipstick anyone

Last Post.
Please advise members exactly what Northants Alfa have done to warrant the publicity you have been giving them especially in the latest pics, other than to provide free parking space.
no joke.

C'mon Phil lets do him , 36c wishful thinking

Young Alf

Surley any publicity is good as long as its not negative, your post sounds like your not happy, is this the case as I'm sure Phillip would not have meant any malice.
