Re: Sprint 6C build up

Hi Green Berlina
I've used ordinary pipe ends before with no problems. I suspect the car companies use formed ends as the tube wall thickness is thin and the bulge keeps it round and may make the hose slip over easier.
Further progress of a routine sort - cutting and plating the rusty bits around the front wheel. The plates were Zinc primed, black hammerited and then underseal coated - so nice and Black!

He should have the other side to do as well plus finish off the rear inner wheel arches

Good work Philip I bet you love it when you chop off those rusty pannels off the car
Thats the most efficient way of getting rid of the rust

Hi GB - I don't have beaded ends on my pipes and no problem with leaks et al. But I do leave a generous length for the hose to overlap.

Hmm - I saw two Green Berlinas at SpAD today - and neither of them was you? GBs must be more common than I thought

If you weren't there, you missed a good flying display. There was lots of grumbles about AROC organisation though... but I'm saying nothing. I had a good day

TWO!!! I know of 2 but have not seen them in the 'metal', both are 1750's so could be them (1 has a factory LPG system on it). maybe I should have gone afterall.......

I guess from your response on the pipe issue that i've over engineered my little adaption .

Hey, and less of the COMMON!!! popular maybe..... but there's only one GB and that the '72-2000 with the off-shade roof (i'll get round to getting it painted one day)

OK, popular then. But I really thought it was you - same 3-box saloon, same colour, only each time I looked the geezer at the wheel wasn't you. Uncanny...

Then again, this bloke came up to me and said "you know, I saw a car exactly like this one near Effingham (no jokes please) yesterday"

He seemed quite put out that it was me coming back from Auto Italia!

...But perhaps it wasn't me, and there is another green Nova lurking in Surrey somewhere

Re: Sprint 6C build up

I was at a loose end so made a list of jobs to do on the 6C - when I got to 23, half day to day jobs, I stopped in despair!
Anyway they will get done - in the next two months......
But two questions:-
1 Should the bumpers be sprayed body (Silver grey) colour?
2 Should the Alfa grille have a black or silver "shield/heart"?
On the two pictured original 6C's, the bumpers were painted, but the cars were red - and one had a chrome shield, the other (first) a black one.
(to see the two use the link on post 26 "Sprintmania")

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Series 1 chrome bumpers would look nice. But that's just me.

Didn't the final QV 'Suds in silver have a bright green shield?

(hint, hint )

I'm sure whatever you choose to do it will look sooper

why dont you paint the whole car white ? - including the bumpers

Italian companies now say that white is the new red for sports cars

chrome heart - I dont know when they started putting that on the sprints but it looks nice !

That's the bunny!

Only with chrome bumpers and your GFX spoiler. Should look really good in silver. If you're not going for chrome I would paint the bumpers body colour - that would look very "factory", everyone was doing it in the '80s

Re: Sprint 6C build up

What does chrome have to do with it ?

for the bumpers it would be nice if you could make them embrase the wheel arches

got some pictures of the 6c here....

I am really really sorry to mention this again Philip but I still feel that silver for that car is not the easiest choice but not the best
No offence Lauren but would you buy a silver Ferrari ?
I wouldnt
Just wanted to get that off my chest

Ofcourse its your car and we all know how much you love it, so at the end of the day I'm sure it will turn out absolutely fantastic

Re: Sprint 6C build up

looking at the pics sc16v posted, i would go with red car, body coloured bumpers, no foglights on the front and a black grillle, that combo looks really nice and makes the car look younger

The Zender Sprint bumper kit looks very similar to that

Actually, I would. I like the shape of the car, not the colour. There's plenty of red cars about

I didn't think Philip was trying to build a 100% replica of the 6C, so I didn't think he was constrained to using the prototype colours, or even the same design bumpers for that matter. I personally like chrome and think it goes well with silver paint - but that's just my personal opinion and its up to Philip what he wants to do. I think if the 6C had gone into production it would have been available in a range of colours, some more subtle than others... but silver would definately have been one of them - just look at late model 'Sud or Sprint colour charts, even limited editions.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Silver is certainly one of my favorite Sprint colours, I had 3 silver Sprints one of which was chrome bumper. My favorite was the Zender kitted one which looked more modern than the chrome bumper but I think its all down to personal preference.

Also this Sprint with no bumpers looks quite interesting

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Well i must admit that silver colour looks good on Sprints, there is one S1 Sprint parked outside AROC Athens, so i see it twice a week, and looks real good.

Looks to me like the 6C bumper is just the Zender one with the horizontal 'recess' cut out to shorten it.

Ofcourse its opinions ! Thats why I said " no offence "

Dont get me wrong here guys, I just wanted to say what I feel

I had a silver sprint as well, it looked very nice ! I dont have anything against the colour...but still ... the 6c Philip is building is such a sporty looking car, that a flashy colour would compliment it even more !

Right... here I go again... I'll shut up now and wont mention the colour of the car again !!!

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Its alright Supercharged, we've all had a go! But I think Philip is sticking with silver for the moment - one less thing to change on the vehicle registration
