Re: Sprint 6C build up

Sixnut .
I thought you had been convinced that a deep blue was the colour of choice.and association with domor car.
if you want to blend in with the sprint section on alfa days then go red.
I think you will get a more vivid and polished finish with deep metallic blue.
less cost I should think with less base coat needed.
blue will set off alloys better too.

you know one cant buy a aerosol can of red 130 from Alfa these days.!!

Re: Sprint 6C build up

I forgot to mention that the lower corner windscreen repair sections arrived on Sat from Germany - what excellent service!
I also painted the sill reinforcement box section.
Re the colour
--- Most of the car is silver grey so inside would match if sprayed silver grey. ( I have a pair of reasonable Grey doors)
Red on the 6C pics looks very good (and I have a pair of reasonable red doors) But the inside would need painting. Red Alfas are a bit obvious though??
Dark blue would need inside painting and dark colours show bodywork defects??
Black looks great but ditto dark blue.
Electric blue very striking.......
Bright orange - a bit chavvy??

It really depends what you are trying to say with your car. Most people these days seem to want some sort of understated elegance and end up with all these subtle shades of metallic this and that... its not very vibrant, is it?

The original 6C was painted Alfa red for obvious reasons. It stood out (then), and was meant to. If Alfa had put it into production, what colours would have been available? I would suggest the same limited selection of "special" colours, like silver (with Alfa red for the shield), black and Alfa red. And for the UK market there would probably be big graphics down the side saying "Sprint 6C"

Given the amount of exposed paintwork inside the cabin, maybe keeping the car silver-grey would be the best idea - I'm sure Snr Guigiaro would approve!

Lauren

PS - I can't remember the last time I saw a chav driving an Alfa Sprint

Alfanauts are GO!!!

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Whats wrong with painting the inside as well ?

There's not as much inside as it used to be anyway

Then you wont have limitations

Re: Sprint 6C build up

What about a nice light metallic green?

I rather like Ford Apple Green Metallic as seen on recent Fiestas...

Re: Sprint 6C build up

The paint question is down to cost - as always with this build! To do a proper job I need to finish the car, run it to iron out the problems - then totally strip it down and spray/get it sprayed inside and out whatever colour.
However I want to get it reasonable in this first build so the spray job will be just the outside and possibly inside door edges. ie not a total strip down yet. I have been quoted 700 - 1000 but am asking around.
Talking of cost, it has gone down recently as I have sold more surplus 164 parts on E Bay

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Yes I agree, leave him alone.
He's problerly had enough about people yellowing on about what colour yellow to use. We have all said what yellow it should be and when he paints it yellow some of you maybe upset at the shade of yellow, but if yellow it is then yellow it will be.

Leave the man alone and let him decide.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Only a little play today to get the inner bulkhead with glass placed to see the effect, try the rear side glass in a slightly different fixing and then out to the front to try front end treatments - nice play time
PS Lauren has won the colour lottery - it will be Silver grey - this year
