been to see my mate jim today (did the welding on the sprint) to see about getting the structural stuff done. i'm aiming to get it stripped down to a bare rolling shell (no seats/dashboard/glass/roof lining/ engine/ gearbox etc) and get it to him to sort out the underneath structural stuff. once thats done i will tackle the bodywork issues myself, like repairing the doors/wings/tailgate/wheel arches etc. once THAT'S done it will go back to jim's to be completely sprayed in 2pack paint to stop any future fading of the red paint oh, in between that i have to build myself a new shed/workshop in my back garden for the engine overhaul might take a while

Re: look what i bought today (part 2)
At first glance I look at and think if I could do it all again.
Then I remember how much I enjoyed restoring mine once I started it.
Enjoy it and can't wait to see the progress.

need a drivers seat, the black material with the little red ti logo's, or some seat material that can be used to make a repair. n/s wing not brilliant, n/s door same as is tailgate but all are repairable worst is door but am on the trail of a replacement (why is everything a 250+mile round trip to fetch from me ) must be living near the coast, cuts out the available directions you can go

Re: look what i bought today (part 2)
mate, what have you done .....
Just kidding
it doesnt look that bad.
looks like it has fairly standard sud rusty bits
(but you can never really tell til you get the grinder on it..)
I didnt know you had to build a garage as well as the car to go in it!!
but it`ll be worth it in the end

hope it will all work out in the end went out to it an hour ago to have another look at things its a lot of work the thing that's worrying me the most is disturbing the wiring, looks a bit fragile did grab hold of the alternator and try to turn the engine over , success! , at least its not siezed can't work out where to start on it, if i start stripping things off iv'e nowhere to store them first thing is to build my own little workshop i think

i really could do with the red door, it's a n/s one that i need most of all, have contacted the guy but it's another 250+mile round trip to fetch it as i'm not exactly desperately in a rush i might leave it, but then will another one turn up nearer to home , probably will before i need it

Re: look what i bought today (part 2)
Yes, I did notice that myself. The ironic thing though - my Sud Ti was a 400 odd mile round trip to pick up and came from Linconshire! Now resides in Wiltshire.

Re: look what i bought today (part 2)
Hi Pat, I probably paid a bit over the odds, but the condition of the body swung it for me, wasn't fussed about the engine - I paid £500. the guy knew it was a good one -then again I have spent a fair bit on it since of course!!!

Re: look what i bought today (part 2)
well, not done much as such to the car, however i did charge up a battery and connect it up to see what works and what doesn't, most things seem to be operational, nice to see the dials all light up tested the wiper & lights etc, seems to just about all work so then i know i shouldn't but couldn't resist just turning her over to see if it cranked ok (i had taken the precaution of turning it over by hand first) , spun over nicely and even showed a bit of oil pressure well you know whats coming next despite it having no exhaust on and not been run for a number of years i just had to see if she would run , risky i know but i couldn't resist i tried to remove the spark plugs to have a look but could only shift 2 which were in a bit of a state so didn't hold much hope for the other 2 so left it at that rather than shear one off as they will come out when the rebuild takes place , at some point the manual fuel pump had been bypassed and an electric one fitted however the wiring had been cut i took off the fuel pipe, stuck it in a suitable tub and with a small jumper cable got the electric pump to prime the carbs, a bit of fuel seemed to come from some of the weak pipes but un-daunted i gave her a try after a few coughs she spluttered into life, amazing she even tries to tick-over i'm inspired now to get on with her a bit more
hope the short vid works, not too sure as i write
