Just sent an email to see if my 'Sud is eligible or wanted! Bet they turn me down as it's not a 105 series!

Place your bets here.............

It does say for cars up to 1980 so I would bet no. But, as it's a little different maybe they would take you on.

Just tried to buy quite a few items from their online shop and even though I was allowed to select the delivery country at the end they rejected my order as they do not ship to Cyprus.

There's no mention of it being 105 series only is there? If someone was to buy the track day offered on ebay and turn up in a pre 1980 alfasud they'd be hard pushed to turn you away i think!!

Am thinking of going down for a long weekend just to spectate. A couple of mates a tent and a boot full of beer

Reason I've asked them is that my race 'sud is 1982. Didn't want to upset anyone. Thought I'd ask first.

Gosh! A second track day for me to miss out on!

Classic Alfa only extend track time to 101 and 105 series Alfas, although they did let me go round the circuit on the parade lap a couple of years back.

Oh - they also banned Alain de Cadenet in a pre-war Alfa racer, but only because it failed Goodwoods notorious NIMBY noise checks.

Apparently the last one was a corker. Should be good if the weather cooperates.

Went to Classic Alfas track day on 9th June, mostly 105's but there were a couple of SZ's. As Lauren says you do get 2or 3 laps in convoy at lunchtime. You can also bring your dog as long as it's on a lead. Spectators cars are a pretty good Alfa meet on their own.

The event is sponsored by the company of the same name. Once upon a time they would put the phone down on you if you asked about Alfasud parts, but I'm pleased to say they are a lot more tolerant now... although they still do not sell Sud parts.

I forgot to mention, its not just 101 and 105 series cars that are catered for; the Alfetta GTV and GTV6, Alfa 75, SZ and Montreal are also welcome. In fact pretty much anything that has had an Alfa Nord twin cam fitted at some point.

If the weather is nice its a good event - and if you are an AROC member you can always blag a ride as a passenger. I had a ride in Bill Smith's Plastic Pig in 2010; I don't recall ever being thrown around in a car as much as that before - braking and lateral g were altogether on another level

I'm a regular attendee but will miss August as on Hols. Last one was a great day out and highly recommended. There's usually a lunchtime parade lap so you get a chance to go round, albeit at lower speed.

They may be struggling a bit for numbers as many are on holiday, I got a personal cold call from Mr Classicalfa to see if I would rebook. So if they are struggling a bit for numbers they may allow standards to slip (that's a joke btw) and accept other cars. I think overall there is a general requirement to keep speeds relatively comparable - it makes for a safer, more fun day.

But Suds would meet the brief. Last time there was an SZ, previously seen plenty of '75's.

I emailed Classic Alfa and asked if they'd mind. Got a very nice response from Richard Morris saying that they like 'suds and then phoned and booked. All done and dusted and got my confirmation in the mail today. My only worry is that noise might be an issue - you've all heard about the 'nimbys' that live near Goodwood.

I'm looking forward to it - it's the first circuit I went on in my 'sud in 1986 - be interesting to drive round it again.

Ted,

I was at the Festival of Speed last Friday and there's no chance you will be as noisy as the Moto GP bikes, F1 cars, Red Arrows and particularly the European Jet Fighter (like Motorhead turned up to 11) that were buzzing about.

Cheers,
Adam

Hi Adam, I was there last Friday too - dodging showers in the morning! Goodwood has a certain number of noisy days and a certain number of noise restricted days per year, obviously the Revival and FoS are noisy days! The standard track days are restricted noise and the Classic Alfa day is one of them. My car is 96Db static at 4500rpm and their day is 96Db drive-by. So, adding induction noise (lots of) and gear noise (even more of) I have a feeling I may be marginal at 8,000RPM! We'll see - but as long as the sun shines and I can get in a few laps I'll happy!
Cheers, Ted

Ted,
Noisy days.. That explains it. Friday was a good day - I couldn't dodge the rain as it was coming in sideways, reminded me of the weekends I spent with my son at Clay Pigeon in Dorset when he raced karts, so I was happy to watch the cars and bikes go up the hills during the squalls.
I'll see if I can get there on the 18th as I love the look and spec. of your car.
Cheers,
Adam
