Twin webers on 1.7.

Hi. New to Alfa's. Just researching if twin webers from a 1.5 boxer will bolt onto a 1.7 boxer that had fuel injection. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi
I believe that the Webers and manifolds from a 1.5 will bolt straight on - BUT the Webers may only be 36's - the 1.7 engines usually had 40IDAs so top end power will be affected.

They will fit just right but...

-The performance will not be optimum because their jetting is for 1.5. That doesnt mean that you will have problem , the engine will work fine but with propper tuning can and will perform better.

-YOu will also have to change fuel pump as the one for injection give more psi and will flood the carbs. Either you install a fuel regulator or installing another pump with the proper pressure.

-Along with the webers you should have the complete set , linkage and intakes because injection intakes are different.

The 1,7 manifolds are larger as well compared to the 1,5

36s on a 1700 will be good and give it really good bottom-end grunt. However 40s will be much more even across rev range and speeds. They will bolt straight on. 36s are fairly common but 40s are becoming less common and commanding minimum of £400 for anything good and complete.

Stick some volocity stacks and ramair socks on and they will sing!
