Front standard/lowering springs needed?
Hi guys am looking for a pair of newish front springs either standard or lowered if anyones got any? I'v got good rear springs of both but only rusty standard springs up front which will look crap. Am thinking standard initially if can get hold of any but would go the lowered route if need be.
Hope someone can help, am trying to save a little on the ever expanding budget I'v seen standard springs advertised on ebay but am not sure if they'll be any good and to be honest they'r a bit expensive for my liking
col

Col, you could you fit standard 33 springs, which are shorter than sud ones and lower the car at the same time

Only problem with that idea Al is that'd only drop it by about 10/15mm or i could also fit 33 spring pans to give the standard ride height. Am picking up some new spring pans next week, hopefully there'll be a choice of sud and 33's so then i could use either springs.

Yes, and yes.. i think
will dig em out and post a pic, you can decide for yourself if they look ropey or not.
have picked up one of those manifolds myself, but am wondering if it might be a gleich item... the casting where yours says alquati has been ground down, as if it were a copy?
anyhow, it didn't come with the thermostat housing, and i need to know if that is a special item or just the standard unit from the single carb manifold?
if you happen to have one, i would happily do a trade for the springs.

No worries Col, Just thought it would give you more spring options, I think the 33 spring pans will not be as deep as the sud ones, I lowered my 33 by using sud springs because they're deeper.

Thanks for that alfasloot, and your manifold will be an Alquati one as Gleich didn't manufacture them themselves, they just used the Alquati on the Gleich special edition 106hp. As far as the thermostat housing goes am pretty sure you just use the standard one from memory.

Used the sud spring pans to make it deeper Al? yours must be about 50mm lower in the front then?
Mind you this is what a lot of people who lower their suds will be running at as 99% of lowering springs sold nowadays as alfasud are actually 33 springs!
We discussed this at length a couple of years ago if you remember mate? While i was rebuilding the s2 front suspension i'd have struggled with setting it up if it weren't for your input
