Ebay Sud
I know this one but have not seen it for about 4-5 years it was a very clean one then and its been in the garage since so should not be to bad...Now the really good bit the 1.7 engine that is mentioned is my old one it cost me about 2k to build and if memory serves it had something like 140-150 bhp it was balanced and lightened uprated oil pump 1.5 cam carriers with L1/L14 profiles etc etc when I sold it to Jim we put it under the stairs and although I have not spoke to him I'm sure it is still under the stairs or well covered, so for £900 you get a bloody good deal.

Yes a lot these days but this is a good buy, my old engine on its own is worth the £900.

Just bought this with my mate. Will post piccies when we collect. For those who know this (I'm hoping) will be the new shell for the Turbo Sud we already have.
Good to know that it's already known.

Well done m8, what are you going to do with the engine? it has only done about 1000 miles at most, for the record the bonnet listed may be one I left in his garage if so check it as when I had it on the car I jacked it up with the bonnet open and it touched my garage roof and has a touch more curve than it should have. Let us know how you get on.

Will do.
Didn't really buy it for the engine because I have a few and was going to do a 1.7 16v on Carbs for the current project. However, your comments may have just changed that plan...... :-)
I really should post progress on the other Sud more, because there has been good progress, I just never seem to have the time to do so, but I promise to make more of an effort!

If its the same bonnet, then the damage is minor and should pull out, it just has a little more curve than normal. For the record I was storing it at his garage so I will have to talk to him about that.
Charlie..check the carbs, I had 44's on it but I think I sold it to Jim with a set of 40's.

You know Eddie, there's a law here,... if something is not claimed ( your bonnet ) after 6 months it becomes ownership of the person you left it at !
I'm sorry about that , its just that if you stored something at my place and didnt talk to me for 4 years, I would probably charge you for the space !!!

Right then, just got round to collecting this what with Scheduling a van, Jim going on Holiday and what not. Collected yesterday, I have piccies and will up load them just now. I have started welding it up today the plan is to run until the other Sud is complete, then do a full restoration at that point.
However I have started and driven it!
Eddie, do you remember which belts went on the engine you built? Are they 1.7 belts or 1.5s?

if they are 1.7 cams and pulleys, then the 1.7 belts normally !
... on the other hand , with Eddie you never know ! They may be cam belts from a John Deer Tractor and pistons from a CATERPILLAR

Oh thats a tricky one after all this time, I think they are 1.5 due to the cam carries being 1500,best bet is to take one to a parts place and compare it to the 1700, they have only done about a 1000 miles but it would be a good idea to change them, the cams are single lobe with L1 inlet and L14 exhaust profiles, 1700 heads were skimmed/resurfaced, valves are slightly bigger than standard, deseamed rods with all bearings being heavy duty vandervile, the whole bottom end was lightened and balanced.
What the condition of the car, what welding do you have to do?
sorry can't be more help but it was a long time ago.
Ignor Chris, he gets upset that we can play with our cars over here but all they can do is bolt on billy equipment.

Over here we have a saying for people that want a fast car but can't afford it or don't have the know how to do it, so they buy bolts on's like plastic rear brake disc's for covering up their drums or instead of a proper aircraft pertrol filler cap they buy the stick on plastic type, thus we call them "bolt on billys" there is no billy as such its just a saying and a good way of winding someone up or in your case we could go down the Tranny route or maybe we should not

Charlie
Just remembered, if you pull the heads off one of the pistons has some digs in it, this was due to a washer droping down the inlet, all was ok so don't worry. I think it was on the N/S head. I still have the washer it was bent in half and snapped then one half was bent again and snapped.
