Main Beam

Drove my car for the first time in the dark last night (past my bedtime you see).

The main beam stalk wouldn't always engage and when it did it would tend to flicker the lights and switch back to dipped when it felt like it.

Is this a common problem, can I fix it?

Cheers

Re: Main Beam

Do you have the chromed stalks or the black plastic ones?
Chrome ones used to work on a pull pull system I think for getting main beam on /off - check relay connections
black plastic was a button on the end of the stalk.

Re: Main Beam

When you say engaged, it's not
mechanical is it?

You pull back all the way to click the
switch for full then it returns to the original
position.
Pull it again to revert to dipped.

The stalk doesn't stay in the back position.

Edit: Ooops that's for the 159....
