Re: Sprint 6C build up

Hi Crank
For the rear windows, I take the trim off the bottom edge, inside and out. Undo the two screws at the front of the glass surround - And the one at the back! then its a wriggle to free the whole assembly up and forwards. If you still have a winder mechanism that needs to come off first as well......And yes I intend to seal mine shut as well on reassembly, but they wouldn't be able to go down anyway with the extra width of the V6 suspension strut towers at the back.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

More Progress
Two more cutting disc plus some serious work with a hacksaw and a hammer and chisel and I now have a hole in the back of my Sprint.... ..
Now what can I put in there??

Re: Sprint 6C build up

A trial fitting of the 164 subframe highlights where the problems are - the sides and the front! Anyway I have decided that it will be a lot easier to cut off the front cross member ( it goes way too far forward in the cabin) and fit the two sides as separate units . Then I will provide suitable bracing and reinforcement .

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Watch those measurements!
I know I'd have at least 3 goes before the wheelbase was the same on both sides.
keep up the good work.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Thanks for the comments guys!
Well the front of Sub frame is now cut off and the location seems to be getting closer. I will need to cut out the Sprint "window boxes" to get the proper separation of the strut towers.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Well I couldn't resist having a trial fit!
.......and it's looking good but there is still LOTS of welding, bracing and support structures to put in place.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

looking good mate hope your going to have the biggest plexi-glass screen between the seats and that glorious engine so it can be seen and not just heard
bet you have to restrain yourself a bit from just getting the welder out now

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Looks like a huge job to get it aligned perfectly but that engine looks sooooo good in there.

Even wheels dont look to stick out too much

Good luck

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Hi Kev
Well I couldn't restrain myself and I've been busy welding!
I also want to see the engine and I had a plan...... (but not using Plexi-glass)
Now I've trialled it and it looks to be a cool idea - I've got a spare rear Sprint boot panel and so I'm using the rustiest one as the "Thermo-acoustic barrier". I think I can also get it to hinge forwards and upwards for engine access.
I've also now got some box section to support the rear structure and subframe.
