Re: Sprint 6C build up

I would just like to say a BIG Thank You! to all of the senders of messages of support/encouragement/advice/humour (and the odd sarcasm!) This is my first build in the Blog age and its really a great method of sharing, in what is usually a fairly solitary hobby (obsession?). It is a real community and I'm sure many others feel the same way about it

i know that i may well have given up on my project if it were not for all the words of encouragement
doesn't matter if it takes a few more weeks before you get any signs of progress, we will be here waiting

Its been a bit the same with my 16V conversion. It was going to be ready for just after Xmas. I am so glad I didnt say which Xmas . 15months and counting . Hopefully it will be ready in the next few weeks

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Hi Mark
Sorry to say but it is not going to be a rally car - just a bit of an unusual road-going Sprint!!
However progress has been made as I now have removed the front of the 164 and got the frame into my garage - pics to follow

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Unfortunately the camera played up with the removal pics so here are the garage resting place pics! It is now jam packed in there so I'll be having a big sort out car shuffle over the next week. I need to swop my red 1.7 Sprint for the Silver Sprint (to be the 6C).

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Thanks Kev
I hope to get started properly next week - but I have resigned myself to not having the red Sprint ready to go to Mitcar as it will need a respray,MoT etc etc -however I will try to go in my frogeye (Non V8) Sprite and hopefully meet up with some of the Sud/Sprint/33 techies!

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Well I've been tidying up a bit in the garage ad got my Sprites stashed away - one on top of the other on my See-Saw! Now to move the Red sprint out, down to the "Big Shed" and bring the Silver Sprint from the shed, into the garage, ready for reconstructive surgery

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Hi Kev
The top one is not as bad as it looks - it goes up on wheel ramps before it gets onto the seesaw, using a trailor winch to pull it up - But I do toy with the idea of making the top double up as a car trailor at some time - and I could also use the A frames as a car body rotating jig....

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Well I've actually driven Two Sprints today.... The Red (1.7) one has gone down to the Big Shed and my 1.5 green QV has now come up to my garage and so all the three major parts for my 6C are in the same place - now to start stripping, cutting and welding.......

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Thanks for the link Iain - it must be nice for them to have their own test track - but that sound!!!
...And thanks for your comment Greek.
Here a some photos of the strip down - strange to see a pile of rust and gaping bodywork holes on a Sprint - but now you see why its is a suitable donor as all the rear wing area will be reprofiled to cover the wider track of the 6C

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Being talking to the chap who owns the 6c car on the previous thread I posted , he lives in Israel he cannot make it road legal and all motor sport is illegal their apparently, oh and the v6 motor is turbo charged as well!!!!!!, i think he needs to move house. Alfasixnut how are you going to keep your motor cool, side pod radiators or run tubing to the front grill through the sills?.

Re: Sprint 6C build up

Just a quick update - I've taken the doors off (More piles of rust falling for each bang of the hammer when freeing nuts! ) and hope to start cutting out the rear this week. I've a "window of opportunity" to get quite a bit done over the next ten days so hopefully - Watch this space
