guide price

having just joined this forum, I have my first request for help.

I have spotted a 166 on ebay. It's pretty much everything I am after apart from the wheels.

I know it is an auction, but what sort of price should I be aiming to pay for a 166 with this spec.

Many thanks stephen

Re: guide price

Hi Stephen and welcome to the forum!

I think you've got an extra "http" in your link; ebay 166 link should work!

As for price, looks like a good one, seems the last service was at 68k, so possibly due one now, guess £2500-£3000??

BTW, sure I saw this earlier the same day on ebay, with a starting bid price of £2800, maybe an indication of what the seller's after? (or perhaps just a typo)

Good luck with your bids!

Re: guide price

Unfortunately couldn't find the link, but I am assuming it is
the X one.
This is a very nice spec, complete with the dsp sound.
Regarding the wheels 17" replacements are available from GTA
italian wheels very cheaply at the moment, however you do get
a more compliant ride with the 16s
I notice the big cambelt service has been carried out,
So the main things to look out for at this age and mileage are
running hot in traffic(radiator),erratic power delivery at 4k. revs and
above(maf),squeaking front wishbone bushes, and look out for
a very stiff clutch, also centre locking and electric windows can play
up,bearing in mind the usual stone chips around the front,IF all of
the above wanted doing to make the car A1,you would spend about
£2k.,if nothing wants doing you could bag a bargain, you really
need to see the car drive it and check the above points.
I see it as around £2k. needing a bit of work to a top bid of say
£2600 in really perfect condition.
