Re: 164 Owner needs a hand
Hi I searched the whole of the Roxanne conversion but the Roxanne is changing to a distributor run off the oil pump. The Series II 12V is dizzyless like the 24V, in that it has to have the dizzy run of the front bank cam. The supplier of the engine supplied a cam to go with the Series II engine, but the problem is that hole behind the diamond shape blank on the front head is too small for the dizzy. The feasibility of englarging the hole or shaving the dizzy is being examined, but as I am in Sri Lanka and the car is in Las Vegas, you can just imagine the confusion. There is also no one taking an active interest in it, and so it is all very frustrating.
Someone on the AlfaBB said that he thought he had heard of converting the Series I to run a Series II in Europe, and he thought this was possible without changing the ECU. I am concerned that changing the ECU will be problematic because of the keycode as well as changing the wiring harness to the ECU.
Please could anyone tell me if they know if such a procedure is possible, that is retain the coil packs and run the Series I 164 with the same or different ECU? Or in fact what it would entail for such an option.
