Well thats the last time I go for aftermarket springs unless the others I have got are better.
I will compare the start and finish orientation of the springs wrt the old ones.
There are alignment marks on the upper mounting...in doin 3 springs I have never seen them before. The first 2 were real genuine alfa springs nae problemo.....the lesjofor...well I saw that when I compared them they were different.
So aliggned them by eye knowing the rough position of where the top mounting holes should be wrt to the bottom mounting.
What a fight it was so I used sqeezy liquid to allow the rubber to rotatate in the upper mounting while compressing the spring.Bottom spring bit in postion, top spring bit in position and top and bottom fittings in alignment.Unlike the aligning marks.
Took the opportunity to strip and clean the top mounting and lubed with copper grease. No tuney noises now.And the top of the shocky should be skeaky clean..now hands that do dishes feel as soft as your face with mild green fairy liquid etc
goat the spring back in situ and was so concentrating on getting that done I omitted to have the ARB cable in the correct side of shocky...No way was I taking the shocky oot again so with a bit of fishing and routing the arb cable correctly routed.
Sticky boot done and filled and then the rain came .
Just the brakes to do so a couple of dry hours tommorow and she will be on the road again.
Has anyone else used aftermarket springs and if so did they have the same aligning problem.....As I said no problem usin genuin springs.
