166 Alarm Disconnection

Hey all,
I did do a search, but cannot find an answer here and I need help quickly!

I need to unplug my alarm. As the damn key is broken with the alarm armed. Everytime I go near the car the alarm goes off.
You would think there would be some sense to the alarm being disarmed when the key is in the ignition.
Has anyone unplugged it, and what is involved.

New key on order, but that is gonna take a few days, and I have to get the car up to them to program.

I can see the unit, but always feel weird touching wires. Do I just yank the wires out, they seem to be in a housing , but it does not want to budge? Anyone done it on here?

Re: 166 Alarm Disconnection

I have not had my 166 all that long so I'm no sure about this one. However, in my old 164 there was a key cylinder in the boot of the car which turned off the alarm when a key was put into it and turned.
The 166 may have then same feature?

Re: 166 Alarm Disconnection

You can disconnect the Alarm but it will keep on sounding for 5 minutes or so, there is a battery inside.

You will loose your central locking but your immobiliser will still function as that works via a Chip in the key and the Vehicle ECU.
