The fun has started - electrickery?
Two weeks of blissfull ownership and the 166 threw me a curved ball on Friday.
I did a 250 mile round trip, but during the last 80 miles the following happened..
The fuel guage went from just under 1/2 to empty (with light on) in a moment. I looked at the trip comouter which started counting range miles down at a mile every 2 secs..first I though a fuel line had ruptured - I stopped but found no leaking fuel. On start fuel guage back to normal, but then fluctiated up and down during the next 40 miles (the guage gradually goes to empty, and then a while later would go back to 1/2.
I stopped at servicves to put £20 petrol in just in case. Car fired up no prob, but a warning light stayed on (it looks like an injector).
I drove the car (running perfect) and stopped at station to pick the wife up that eve. Tried to start - no luck. Car cranks, fires and then shuts off straight away. RAC man said symptoms looked like fuel pump or even inertia switch (he checked this but was ok).
Had the car recovered to Alfa workshop in Royston, and of course, on Monday morning they started the car and no problems.
Could this be a fuel pump relay? I see from service history the AFM was replaced 2 years ago.
Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
