Another Sportronic Question

I have a facelift 166 (2004), and occasionally when accelerating hard, the auto gearbox fails to jump between 3rd and 4th gear. The revs go beyond 5000rpm as the speedometer hits 70 and beyond, so I switch to Sportronic mode and make the switch to 4th gear myself. Should I simply reset the ECU, or this a fundamental problem (I have searched this forum for a similar problem but found nothing). Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Another Sportronic Question

The engine goes to around 7000rpm with full throttle, so I would imagine that it would still be in 2nd at 70 in the auto (60 is shift 2nd to 3rd in manual 6 speed).

Does the car hit the rev limiter and still not change, or are you worried to rev it properly?
