If it's gone down the V half way along, I'd forget about it.
To get right at the V, you nered to remove plenum, runners, fuel rails, inlet manifolds, and coolant pipe. The coolant pipe has to be withdrawn from the alloy block it goes (and corrodes) into by the thermostat housing and is secured somewhere deep down in the V. Even if you get the fixing undone (I couldn't even see it with all these bits off, let alone undo it), it will not come upwards through the V as far as I can tell. This means you'd have to withdraw it towards the gearbox if there's room which I doubt... It goes on and on (like me).
Leave it be where it is!
