Re: 164 will not start
I know of a similar tale involving a few days head scratching! Try the bits above the fuel tank, take the carpet out of the boot and check the wires.
Mine did that when one of the airflow sensors came undone, and also much more annoying was when the rev sensor went. There was nothing wrong but the computer would not let it fire up! That sensor is near the gearbox, it is cheap but has to be re-callibrated on the Alfa garage computer.
If the fuel pump isn't pumping check the boot, if not look into sensors would be my advice.
I did 30,000 miles in a 15 year old 12v and only had it not work 2 or 3 times. It even did Birmingham to London with no rotor arm in the distribitor, just worked on arcing fluff. I did question the power loss but it was dark and still going! They are robust, the bosch bits are great, it's the other bits (sun roof etc) that were wired somewhere else that are not so good. Any way rev sensor died at about 135,000 miles, cost £180 to fix and set up at AR main dealer.
