166 clutch has a mind of it's own!

Hi all! I bought my car with one owner and a full Main Dealer Service history nearly 3 weeks ago. It's a 1999 model 166 with 91K on the clock and it drives like a dream.

The previous owner had the clutch replaced at 85K. However, the clutch pedal sometimes is as limp as Julain Clairy's wrist! It only seems to bite at a point half way down to the floor and also sometimes the pedal does not spring back-up in to place level with the brake and gas pedals?

Any ideas on the problem and how to cure it please?

Interesting, mine does the same yet I replaced both the master and the slave, my clutch is still original and heavy like many. My prime suspect is the damper that sits just before the slave or possibly decay in some of the rubber pipes affecting the flow.
