Re: Replacing water pump on 12v V6
I have done a few Alfa V6 water pumps. I cannot comprehend anyway to do a pump without changing the timing belt. If you are extremely careful, the cam covers can remain in place. At TDC, there are marks on the cam pulleys that are spaced exactly 18 cm. I have a 2.0 turbo V6 without these marks. So, later model engines may not have this mark.
In any event, you can place your own marks onto the pullys to assure that the belt is aligned properly. Provided that you are confident that the engine is running correctly before starting the work.
