Re: Are 166 Prices Firming Up?
I think prices are firming up,have just bought a mint 53 plate
Super, with 12 mths. warranty ,paid good money for it,but by the
same token got a really good price for my 02 plate 2.5 with 93k.
Since I bought my first 166 4 yrs.ago a lot of 166s' are being sold
to knowledgable enthusiasts who are prepared to pay top money
for late low mileage models with the right spec.
I am typical 166 owner,always had saabs,the 9000s' were brilliant
cars, related to the Alfa164 of course, but with the advent of the
GM influence and a sharp downturn in build quality I decided to move
Bought a 166 t/spark tourismo 2yrs old with 15k. on clock,ran it
for over 3 yrs, with no problems,in many ways it was the succesor
to the 9000 that saab never built,a fine handling large saloon
focussed on the driver,sold the t/spark,bought a 2.5 v6 02 plate
90k on the clock, spent money getting up to top notch condition.
Loved the v6 ,totally different ,then decided on a 3.0 super, but
wanted a really nice one, finally found it!
I think people realise what fantastic value these are and if you get a
good one,you will be back for another.
I really cannot understand why the 166 is so underated in the UK
and why it never caught on ,just look at some of the boring
bland cars from the opposition!
