You should have a 5 digit code to manually overide the imobiliser running off the CODE system.
You can, on other models input the code using the accelerator pedal. Not sure about the 166 but the manual will tell you. That de activated the imobiliser.
Sometimes this, and a good charge will be enough to fix the problem, or using the master key.
If not you can drive to the dealer and have them re-set the system (which may require that you take all of your keys including the master key). or re-program it if necessary.
On a GTV I had the problem once, entered the code manually and it went away for another few months. When it did return, if was properly and replacing the antena, code box etc didn't solve the problem so instead of replacing the ECU/keys/locks for £1200 I bought a ECU chip off a dutch guy that removed the CODE sytem. If you want to persue that I'll try to get some details for you.
