Jamie Porter ,Alfa Workshop
Took my 166 2.5 v6 down to Jamie Porter yesterday.
He changed the timing belt, tensioner, idlers, auxilary belt, water pump,
maf, sorted out my cruise control, and a couple of bulbs that were
out all for a very reasonable £793.
Most importantly it has got rid of a tapping noise from cold,it looks
as thoughthe previous owner had cut corners and just replaced
the belt on its' own,as the tensioner and idlers were well worn,
incidentally well worth changing the pump as the plastic impeller
was starting to break up,they replace this with the 3.0 litre one
with a metal impeller.
On the subject of petrol consumption the 6 speed V6 returned an
average of 28mpg on a return trip of 170 miles,whereas my T/Spark
returns 29mpg,but it is very low geared being 5 speed.
Altogether a very favourable experience at Alfa Workshop, would
have no hesitation recommending them.
A complete contrast to another independant Alfa Servizio in
Northampton, who when I acquired my T/Spark with only
15k. on the clock ,had the temerity to charge me £295 for
a service which involved changing the oil and front brake pads,
I did the same service later on,£25.00 fully sythentic oil and filter
Kwik fit(ok for oil changes!),brake pads cost me £17 ,fitted myself
Total cost £42!
