Help Couple of niggles

Hi all, love the forum and also love my 99` sportronic v6 I bought last week. However, couple of small probs have appeared, the first being the wipers do as they please half the time and end up stopping in strange places on the screen and secondly the abs appears to be playing up although the light isn`t showing. When I brake really hard its fine till the last second then the back left locks. The disk is ropey and looks like it needs replaced and the caliper stripped and clean but could that cause the abs to not work. Thanks in advance guys.

Re: Couple of niggles

i guess that could stop the ABS working....might be worth checking the sensors as well, although first thing to do is replace the discs and pads and see hwo that does - locking rear brakes are scary!!

Re: Couple of niggles

Re. wiper problem - I think the random stopping thing can be caused by grease contamination on the slip ring contacts in the wiper motor assembly. The slip rings live under a plastic cover on the wiper motor. The wiper assembly needs to come out to check this out.

Re: Couple of niggles

Surprised that your ABS light is not coming on if there is a fault - Does it light up on check mode?

Bulb may have blown or somebody may have removed it to hide the fault! Will not pass an MOT with light showing but will if there is no bulb!
