Hi all and thanks for your input. I made the bid on eBay and won it - horaah. I have only driven it twice, on the way back from Rugby and to the mechanic for the service and cam belt change ( where it is currently residing. )
It doesn't seem to be too bad - feels a bit sluggish, but that may be down to the fact that it was long overdue a service and the platinum plugs need changing. It seems to be slow off the mark, but gathers speed very quickly, compared to the Twinspark. I have tried the Sport setting twice and it is much better than normal, though I perhaps wouldn't have held 4000 revs as much as it chooses to. Sure it knows best though.
Is taking some getting used to - the steering is very much lighter and the led display is like every other one - on the blink. A pity, suppose I will just have to live with it. The aircon works though, as does everything else so far.
One annoying thing is the fact that it let water in during the heavy rain of last week. Went on holiday and came back to find misted windows. Think it might be the fact that the scuttle area is bunged up with leaves and soil, but as the aircon gubbins are taking up so much room, can barely get my hand in to try and clear it. The mechanic is going to try and clear it with an air line and hopefully that will sort it.
All that remains is to pay a nasty bill for all the work being done ( cam belts, water pump, service and a few bushes ) and then give it a proper thrash this Sunday, assuming it is ready tonight. Was too scared to cane it with no evidence of the cam belt/s (?) being changed.
But, my fleet is now one too many,so if anyone is thinking of introducing a Twinspark into their lives, let me know! She has been a very reliable car, ( took me at high speed to Vienna and back in September ) 1995 model, red ( mostly, except for the pink bits ), 94000 miles, heated electric leather seats, ( and the originals if anyone wants them ). New exhaust and year's MoT. Had a celebrity owner too.
