166 start problem and CEL
The ole 166 is acting up. It wouldn't start from cold a week ago, but started later after I had messed with the alarm and pressing the fuel cutout button (not sure if either were related to the actual problem - probably not). [To be honest, my very first reaction was "****, the cambelt!] I thought that it was just that the alarm was a bit confused as somebody else had driven the car who was not familiar with it... The car has only been driven for a short time about once a week over the last month. Today, I decided to take it out for a drive. No problem starting, but I got the CEL (orange check engine light). On the third start, no light so I though "Alfa gremlin". I took it for a spin. Coming off a high speed stretch onto a fast moving roundabout, the car stalled and would not restart. I had to move it on the starter (evilness) or die and then it suddenly caught and I was able to get home. I think the car is running better than "limp home" mode but I was trying to keep the revs up when stopped.
I am guess this could be fuel related, lambdas or a crank sensor or something? The light is not flashing so it is probably not the Cat (i.e., prob not back lambda). I'm not sure if I should drive it in to get it serviced - the other thread on here makes me wish I had a code reader!
