Power loss in heavy traffic

Started suffering almost complete power loss when in heavy traffic. After 15-20 minutes of stop and go traffic there is just nothing when you press the accelerator. Once you stop, switch off engine, leave it for a minute or so and start again its better, but misfires and doesnt really fix itself until you hit the open road again. My first thought was the MAF was playing up but its reving past 5000 no problem doesnt seem to have lost any top end power.

Any ideas on possible causes?

Re: Power loss in heavy traffic

Still could be the MAF! I really hope it is............................coz it could be the fire by wire throttle! Its uses electronic impluses instead of a cable.

On the Evo web site they had this problem with the 166! Dont take it to the alfa dealers take it to an alfa specialist if you can!...if thats the problem. Loss of power, wouldnt exceed 10mph! Someone else had a similar problem on this site! they just had to put new connections on to the F.B.W

The im guessing the maf could still cause the problem.....someone else will comfirm....maybe!
