Sportronic Lockup Torque Converter?

Can someone tell me if the sportronic in my 3.0V6 2001 166 has a lock-up torque conveter in 3rd and 4th as my 164 had , it doesn't seem so the way it drives and would also explain the very poor fuel consumption when compared with the 3.0v6 164 that i had , all in all the sportronic is nowhere near as good gearbox as the 164 box even though mechanically it is the same box. The person that callibrated this gearbox at Alfa should have been sacked.

Re: Sportronic Lockup Torque Converter?

I am certain there is a lockup in the auto box
In my experience the auto box "slips" a huge amount when NOT in Sport mode. Mine will often start off in 2nd and slip for smooth, but very sluggish take off. And I live in a VERY hilly area, which is really annoying.
Sport mode seems to have an earlier lock up, although I have noticed some slip, presumably to ease up the revs to 3k+, when I boot it on a hill, rather than kick down.
