Squeal when cold
Now that i've got the 'leaf back after it's clutch transplant and exhaust surgery i've started to have a look at other wee problems i've got.
The main one is that when the car is cold there is a squeel/scrapping noise coming from the water pump area. I've taken the wheelarch liner off and scooted the water pump pulley with WD40 and this immediately stopped it although it soon came back.
So my question is - what is makeing the noise? From a quick look at the pulley and the eper there's no pulley bearing there so i'm guessing it must be the pump itself but why would squirting WD40 help if it was the pump?
I really don't want it to be the pump as i gather the cam belt needs to come off to replace it.
Also, speaking on taking belts off how on earth do you get the aux belt off the 164 V6?? The 166 aux belts have a nice spring loaded tensioner that you just turn with a spanner or socket but the 164 seems to be different....does it need special tools??
