I've only gone and done it!

Well, I bought my first 166.

It's done 106k, but is good condition.

I have a few noises to sort out.

The first is a horrible metalic scraping crunch from the front right - mainly on speed bumps - I have a feeling it could be the wishbone bushes - do you think I'm right?

Cheers guys,

Well done Dan you won't regret it.

Sorry I can't help you with the noise problem, not had that one yet! No doubt someone will assist though.

Happy motoring!!

Re: I've only gone and done it!

Welcome to 166 ownership!

Is the speed bump noise just when cold or at all times? Mine has always done this a bit when first starts up, but not after. Although I have heard there is an issue with bushes - I'm sure others will give more information on this.

What year and spec? and of course post some pics up of the car on here please!

Meantime enjoy that exclusive feeling!

Re: I've only gone and done it!

My 3.0 ate a pair of front coil springs within 4 weeks of each other. Must be a lot of effort to carry that gorgeous block around at stupid speeds!

They split near the bottom of the coil and could cause a grinding noise like you describe. Get under it, or better still get the wheel off and give it a good look over.

If you enjoy your 166 experience as much as I have you'll be a happy man.

It might not be as reliable as the German guff people probably advised you to buy, but it's all about smiles per mile with an Alfa. Enjoy.
