Warning Another Noise! aka I COULD CRY!!!

Anyone know what a dying V6 water pump sounds like.
I've noticed 2 distinct noises from water pump area today - a high pitched scraping sound and a rattling sound like a marble in a tin can. Both speed dependent, comes and goes, disappearsa at high revs.
Not overheating at all though. Slight plastic burnt smell from same area.
Took top timing belt cover off - no obvious problem belt (new last 8K miles) "looks" ok and all pulleys running true.
Could be something catching on aux belt underneath. But its cold wet and dark so not going under car tonight!. Another job for the weekend along with oil change (Miller's 10/40w semi synth. Anyone used this - also c106 Champion oil filters are 1.43 at Halfrauds - yes 1.43!!)
Also rear discs to do and those bleedin caliper pots to twist and retract!!

Took off aux belt, nothing to do with that at all, took Cambelt cover off - the feckinn tensioner has gone again!! It was only replaced 8k/10 monthjs ago. Looks like the forward idler pulley is shot too as I found 3 ball bearings rattling around the belt cover casing!!!
Suppose it is Friday 13th.........
