If you are fitting lowered springs and there are 2 people doing the job you can get away without using a spring compressor and you wont need any special tools, apart from the usual stuff and a very long breaker/power bar. What is it you have broken, the spring or the strut? Bear in mind that springs can break on their own over time(my NSF one did on my 164)and these cars have a recall for spring pan corrosion(the bit the bottom of the spring sits on)so check these too.
Have a look at my car in the members garage(no.35)to see what they look like lowered-mine was approx -40mm, but i did have 17" rims on which i think helps(pics arent that good, but i will email you some others if you want).
