Pads/discs for 166
There seem to be loads of threads about brake pad/disc combinations for different Alfa models on this boards. However, I am wondering what users have found to be decent on an Alfa 166 2.0TS. I got the back pads replaced about 2k miles ago (original Alfa - whatever was fitted by the dealer) but the fronts will need to be done soon. The discs _may_ also need to be done. I do feel that the performance could be a bit better - although this is a heavy car and it was rated 92% braking performance at a recent MOT equivalent...
Anyway, is it worth my while looking at "better" pads (and discs)? I really need them to work well from cold. Do "fast road" pads tend to be a bit scary when cold?
P.S. 20W50 HPX oil brought emissions way down. CO2 0%, HC 0ppm at idle; CO2 0%, HC 7ppm at high idle [and wilth oldish filters!]. Think I'll move back to 10W40 now though as the oil seemed a bit thick one of those last cold mornings.
