166 2.4 Jtd Lhd

Does anyone know if there are any in the country?

I have been looking on mobil.de and they seem to start at the 10k euro mark, + VAT etc would bring it in at 10 to 11k GBP. Seems very expensive, however, if there was a JTD in the country already I guess it wouldn't be worth much due to LHD.

Any about??? Might be the answer I am looking for.

Hens teeth....

It's an import jobby I think.

A great shame IMO, as the 2.4JTD really suits the 166. Was in one a few weeks back in Piacenza.

Anfortas has one too.

90% of the 166's I see on sale in Spain are 2.4 JTD's. They're a bit pricey here too. I think as the 50/50 mark of petrol vs diesels gets ever nearer, diesels are retaining their values batter than a thumping great V6 or an underpowered (for the car) TS.

Have a look at:

It's in 'spik' but you'll get the idea...

Re: 166 2.4 Jtd Lhd

Before I sold my 3.0, I was seriously considering the idea of paying someone to swap out the petrol engine and put in a 20V JTD.

I figure buy a well specced car with mucho miles or a terminal engine problem, pay 4k (real guesstimate) for the engine/box and labour work and have a RHD JTD 166 for less money than an imported LHD one. A 3.0 engine/box may even be worth something to someone planning a 147/156 upgrade.

There are doubtless many fundamental flaws in this plan of mine, however the main one was that I did not have the bottle to try and execute it
