Got some front brake pads for the 164 a couple of weeks ago - nothing fancy, just Delphi/Lockheed.
On looking closer at my front discs, I've decided to change them also.
Can any one advise on how best to do this?
Or if there are any pitfalls to avoid?
As far as I can see the disc is fixed to the hub by the wheel bolts & a locating spigot/bolt, so it should be easy enough to remove the wheel bolts.
I'm expecting the effort required to remove the locating spigot to be inversely proportional to its size
, & that the disc may be corroded to the hub.
Having chiselled the brake shields off a few weeks ago, access to the back shouldn't be a problem.
The other feature that would prevent removal of the discs may be the caliper. Looking at the 164 caliper it seems to be unusual in that it's 2 pieces bolted together.
Will removing the bolt on bracket allow the disc to be removed?
What torque should I use in replacing the caliper bolts?
The brake pads had replacement bolts with them, with threadlock applied. I assume the threadlock requires a certain pressure to be applied to work?
Any help gratefully received
