164 spark plugs - info needed
I am in the process of doing a bit of a home service on the 164 2.0TS prior to the summer hols (fair bit of motoring to do).
It's been a couple of years (but not too many miles) since the car saw an official Alfa service centre.
Anyway, I removed the spark plugs to see what state they were in - boy did I get a shock (not literally) :-)
I have never seen a spark plug with no overhanging earth electrode before. The ones fitted to my car are Golden Lodge 25HLD - which from a bit of Googling are probably genuine Alfa parts.
Does anyone know if these can be replaced with some more traditional Bosch plugs ? I bought some Bosch Super F5DC's from a guy on Ebay (who claimed they were ok for the 164) but now I'm not so sure.
As the earth electrodes are vastly different, I'm thinking that sticking with original Alfa spares is probably the right way to go.
There is so little info on spark plug compatibilty, especially when it comes to 164's. I dont even recall seeing them listed in the little black books fixed to the shelves in Halfords.
Any info gratefully received.
