Re: New Clutch - still smelling
Thanks - that's a good point.
When she was test driven again (proper test drive this time several weeks later), the feedback was that the cutch seemed light and had good travel. Comment was that it was very much better than a recent 166 3.0 that had an evil heavy clutch (different problem on that car no doubt!).
Of course there could be air in the system - altough everything seems to have been behaving for the last couple of weeks.
Separately, I have new spark plugs in. However, I have noticed that the temp gauge seems to sit around 70-80deg until rising to 90 deg in traffic. I do short journeys and it is pretty cold at the moment, but I am considering getting the thermostat done anyway.
I had dreadful carbon buildup in another car despite "decidely sportive use"!!! Anybody have experience of injector cleaners such as STP or are these a crock of ****?
The car seems very lumpy when cold. An example: 4-5 mins after cold start, when stopping at a roundabout and going into neutral, she hesitates and almost feels like a misfire (even with new plugs). This problem dispappears once warmed up and the rich fueling/choke cold startup cycle has completed. This could just be the "standard" ECU behaviour. I guess a remap might sort this - but then again, the Alfa engineers probbaly set it up this way for a reason!
