I'm currently rebuilding the engine of my old '77 Scimitar and have decided that enough is enough. I'm sick of it falling apart all the time (new gearbox, prop, suspension, brakes etc. in the last 6 months
) Plus i'm after something with better mpg as i now do quite a few miles. I had a '89 33 1.5 ti a few years ago and loved it, but now it's the 164 that's got me obsessed.
I'm looking to spent £1-1.5k on a 2.0 TS (would love V6, but fear mpg). Do you reckon i'll be able to get a tip-top FSH car for that?
Excuse me for being a bit of a thickie, but how do you identify which are the 8v and which are the 16v cars? Do they all have timing chains or belts?
Finally, which is the best model/age of TS to go for? I like the look of facelift cars the best, though i'm not that fussed. My other consideration was a 2.0 155 - i've never driven either, but prefer the 164's lines - any thoughts?
All(!) i've got to do now is get the Scimy running, tested and sold before i can start looking in earnest. A lot of questions, i realise. Any help on my path to Alfa ownership would be greatly appreciated.
