sidelight problems

This weekend the drivers side sidelight called it a day and the warning light on the dash appeared. So after some major dismantling to get to said bulb I checked it and it seemed to be intact,

Also on the way from work called at the local halfords to pick up a replacement that the was nothing like the bulb in the car?

The main beam still works, so can anybody point me in the right direction as to a cure

Re: sidelight problems

Sand/file the contact metal, and the base of the bulb itself. Not sure why, but they seem to corrode on the sidelights very often. I had to do this every 6 months or so on mine.

Hope this helps,

Re: sidelight problems

a wee dab of silicon grease works wonders on stopping contacts corroding.

Re: sidelight problems

Forget Halfords for 164/166 bulbs they are never right and stupidly expensive. Take one out and go to a motor factors, if you want xenon etc. they should be able to get them for you and not at 15.00 each or what ever Halfrauds try to charge you.
