Drove the 156, for the last time, from Manchester to Kettering to collect the 166. Mrs C asked me if I was sad, and TBH I was. I'd thoroughly enjoyed the 156 in the couple of years - despite the odd repair here and there.
However, I collected the 166 - and boy oh boy - what a great car to cruise up the M1 in - even on the Thurs night before Good Friday!!
She purrs along beautifully, and the auto (am I allowed to call it an auto or must I type Sportronic every time
) is great. The engine is very smooth and the ride is just lovely. It has made me realise just how rough/gravely/hard the 156 had become - but hey - 135,000 miles and she was still going strong (ish)!
So today I've removed the awful aftermarket sat nav which had dvd in the boot, a remote control in the centre consol and a screen mount screwed (
) the the flip up lid of the dash board cubby hole - what possess people to do such stupid things?
Second thing to go was the aftermarket reversing sensors - easily done as they were attached to the rear number plate - or so I thought! However, she still beeps in reverse becuase I cant find where the sensor is that's linked to Reverse gear!!!
Anyway, I waffle on...
Very pleased with her after the 200 mile drive home from Kettering to the NE where I live. Real joy and I may well be a convert.
Hi Howell - forgot you had the 166 - I should have picked your brains before buying one
Oh, and thanks for the warm welcome guys
Pics later once I've cleaned and polished her - lashing it down tonight so hope it's fine tomorrow
