this vane afm has a screw adjust pot next to the connector, what doies this pot alter? is it idle speed or emissions ?

I think on the 3l 12v it is an electric adjustment for tuning emmisions. s2 twin spark was the same style.

this differs from the one on the 12v cloverleaf which doesn't have the electric adjustment and makes do with a manual air bypass for fine tuning. (ecu does seems to accept the adjustment on the 3litre 12v afm when one is fitted...)

there is a seperate idle controller (the metal cylinder with black sheath situated in the top-middle in front of the plenum). normally they are factory set, though occasionally need a good clean out as they can stick.

The screw ONLY adjust the mixture at idle - and then not by very much! It won't make any difference to the mixture once the throttle is off it's idle stop. I take it this is a pre-cat car you're talking about? I'm not sure what difference (if any) that screw would make on a cat car.
