Re: Squeaky Front Springs on Alfa 166
164's have similiar problems....but there is one cure that works until you can scrounge enough to buy new wishbones, should they be dead and buried....grease ! and not the cheap stuff, go for the more expensive moly grease used in CV joints, its worth the little bit extra, plus its tougher stuff. Basically - just get a grease gun, or borrow one, and liberally coat the guts of the wishbone, engine and roadside, with the stuff, on both sides of the car. same for any ball joints.
No guarantees, it might or might not work , but it will never harm the car. If it is wishbones - be adventurous and see if you can find the OEM supplier, cause maybe and possibly there are other cars that use similar, or else Alfa out-sources. They do with waterpumps, as I discovered recently. The 166 owners on the site will also be able to advise you really well.
