Re: Nearly four years, should I change the belts?
alfa say 6 years / 72,000 for the V6, and stand by that recommendation. my indie says 5 years / 60,000.
my original belt made it to 6 years, and was changed on the dot of 60,000 miles, at 5 years i will have just 30,000 on the belt. as the belt has not yet reached 4 years and has just 20,000 miles on it at the moment, i'm just having it inspected at this service, and changed at the next.
Thing is, we dont hear about the belts that went to 72,000 / 6 years no problem. As it would have been major news if many failed, we can only assume most were ok, especially as alfa saw fit to change the TS interval but not the V6
depends how unsure you are, there is no harm in changing early, but i'm not totally convinced on the time thing - after all, you dont know how long the belt has been sat on the shelf, it could be a year old at the time of fitting....
smaky managed 9 years and 105,000 miles on a twin spark cam belt.
