Is there any hope for this 3.0 166?
After listening to me babble on about how much I like my 147, my step-dad bought my mum a 147, and within days had bought himself a 72,000 mile Y-reg 3.0 V6 Lusso 166, full history, 3 owners and in excellent condition for £1,500.
Bargain, we thought.
He told me tonight of a suspected Auxiliary Drive Belt failure. A grinding metallic noise was heard from under the wheel arch before he turned the engine off and arranged a pick-up.
The belt was replaced, but the engine ran like a bag of spanners.
Is it possible that the timing belt has slipped?
Would it run at all if it had?
I read of another story on here where the drive belt had lodged itself under the timing belt causing it to slip, but this killed the engine.
He'll get some news when he can get it to a proper garage, but I thought I'd ask on here, hopefully someone can give us some encouraging news!
