166 gear change improvement
One of the things that has always frustrated me about my 166 is the gear lever, in that it is far too long to get proper quick changes in. So today, with nothing better to do, I decided to try and shorten it, and managed to lop about 6 centimetres off.
What a difference it makes, not only in the ease of changing gear quickly, but also in the overall feel of the gearchange, as a lot of the movement associated with long levers is taken away and the whole linkage now feels more solid and positive.
It is easy to do - anyone interested in how, let me know and I will post instructions. Suffice it to say it cost absolutely nothing to do, and no additional parts are needed.
