Seat Belt

Hi all, the drivers side seat belt in my old nail is becoming very stiff to pull out, is there a way of lubricating it at all or am I looking at waiting for it to sieze completely and buying a new one ?

Re: Seat Belt

I'm not familiar with the 166, but it is unusual for a belt retractor itself to get stiff. I guess it's more likely that the belt is chafing on something inside the pillar. All you can do is pull the pillar trim off (be careful if it has a side airbag mounted in there or a curtain airbag in the cantrail) and see if it gets any better. If you can't find an obvious cause, I'd be inclined to look for another belt assembly at the scrapper. See if the pasenger side belt assembly has the same part number. IF it does, it might be better to get one of those (less use).
