Help Alfa 164 Indicator Stalk Connections

Hi guys and gals,

Happy new year to all!

I am hoping somebody can help me? I am using the indicator/light stalks from an alfa 164 in a kit car build. I have figured out the connections required to use the indicators/lights but i cannot connect to them with any type of electrical connector i have access to, as the terminals are two close together and short each other out.

As i am not using any of the Alfa loom, does anyone know if/where i could buy the connectors from that usually connect the loom to the indicator/light stalks? Are they from a specific electrical manufacture, etc? From looking at the stalks, the connectors are not a standard footprint as some of them have groves cut into them at different places.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Alfa 164 Indicator Stalk Connections

I've a feeling they will be vehicle-specific. Can you get to a scrapyard and just cut the plugs and about 6" of wire off a dead 164 and then solder your new loom to it?

Re: Alfa 164 Indicator Stalk Connections

Following Avocet's advice here, if you look at one of the electronic component sites like Farnell or RS Components, you may be able to find replacement inserts for the connector shells that will allow you to do away with the short length of wiring cut off from another loom. Identifying the correct insert won't be easy though.

Personally I'd look for replacement multi-pole connectors available from car wiring specialists such as Vehicle Wiring Products and SVC (although I can't find any connectors!) and cut off the Alfa connectors completely. RS and Farnell also do a range of multi-pole items from the quite reasonable to the eye-wateringly expensive sealed military stuff.

Oh and BTW, welcome to AO!
